Trust & Security
An AI that talks with your students and assesses what they say carries two obligations: its judgments must be checkable, and its handling of student data must survive your hardest review. This page covers both, stated precisely. Where a certification isn’t finished, we say so.
Judgments that can be checked
- Nothing is decided mid-conversation. What Glo tracks during a session steers the conversation and shows the student where they are. The feedback that counts is settled afterward, from the record of the whole conversation.
- The student sees the evidence. Every judgment reaches the student with the words behind it, quoted or closely paraphrased from what they said, so they can see exactly why it was reached, and say so when it’s wrong. The report is theirs, and an instructor never sees it with the student’s name on it.
- You keep the final say. Agora gives an instructor no student’s transcript or concept-by-concept marks, and no report with a name on it. What it produces is a picture of the class, a record of who took part, and a short reasoned note on the few students worth a word, plus each student’s preparation record in courses built around preparation before class. Whatever any of it is worth in your course is your decision to make.
Where student data goes
In short, from the documents every student agrees to before using Agora. The documents themselves, linked below, are the full account.
- Voice: a session streams the student’s voice to the AI models that run the live conversation. Agora doesn’t save the audio. It keeps a written transcript. The AI provider may keep limited session records for a short time, for example to reconnect a dropped session.
- Transcripts and reports: private to the student who made them. Access controls keep everyone else, the instructor included, from opening them, and people on the Agora team access them only when they need to. They’re kept while the student’s account is active, and afterward for as long as Agora needs them for the purposes in the Privacy Policy, unless the student asks for deletion sooner.
- What instructors see: the class picture, who took part, some feedback reports with names removed, a short note naming the few students worth a word and why, and voice time used. In courses built around preparation before class, they also see each student’s preparation record, the notes students save, and summaries that quote students without names. Apart from Glo’s notes on those few students, class summaries don’t put names on anything students said, and students are told that in a very small class, an instructor might still guess who an example came from.
- AI training: the companies that provide Agora’s AI models aren’t allowed to use student sessions to train their models. Agora may use sessions to evaluate and train its own AI, using de-identified information where it reasonably can. Student information isn’t sold or used for advertising.
- Course separation: each course’s materials are kept apart from every other course’s, and a session can reach only its own course’s. Instructor-only files, such as solutions and answer keys, are kept out of what the examiner can draw on.
- Service providers: Agora runs on cloud infrastructure, AI model, and security providers. Technical logs can include content the AI features process, such as transcripts and reports.

Where we stand, form by form
FERPA
Students agree to Agora’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Voice Sessions and AI Notice themselves before using Agora. Information in Agora may be part of a student’s education records, and when a school has a written agreement with Agora, Agora acts under the school’s direction and protects those records as FERPA and that agreement require. Where the agreement and the student documents differ, the agreement controls. A school data agreement, including the named list of service providers, is available on request.
Students under 18
Agora is only for people 18 and older. The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy say so, and every student confirms it before their first session.
WCAG 2.2 AA
This site and the product are built to WCAG 2.2 AA. Sessions are conversations, so we take accessibility seriously beyond checklists: keyboard operation, screen-reader labeling, captions of the examiner’s speech, no motion that can’t be turned off, and turn-taking that moves at the student’s pace. If you find an issue, email us and we will fix it. That is the whole policy.
HECVAT
A HECVAT questionnaire is available to institutions on request, along with our data agreement.
SOC 2
SOC 2 Type II is on our security roadmap. We won’t claim “in progress” until an auditor is engaged. In the meantime, our safeguards include encryption in transit and at rest, access controls that keep users from reading one another’s sessions, separation of each course’s materials, and limits on who at Agora can access information. Security documentation is available on request.
Our school data agreement, HECVAT, and security documentation are available on request: info@learnwithagora.com.
See it with your own course
Agora is in pilot in fall 2026 courses at Harvard and MIT. Bring one course and we’ll set up your first weekly review with you, shaping it around what your classroom needs.
